6 na Bata ni Vargas, Picson Nabiyayaan ng P374K

NAGANANSYAHAN ng US$7,000 (₱374,000) ang anim na mga bataan nina Philippine Olympic Committee/Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines president Victorico Vargas at POC communication director/ABAP secretary general Edgar Genaro Picson.

 Ito’y makaraang pamayagpagan ng Team Philippines sa likod ng 3 gold, 1 silver at 2 bronze medal sa 2nd Kaplori Cup noong Hulyo 2-10 na nilahukan ng 158 boksingero ng 11 bansa sa  Manado City, North Sulawesi, Indonesia.

Kalakip ng team championship ang $5,000 (₱267,000) bukod pa sa $500 (halos ₱27,000) bawat isa ng mga nag-gold na sina Quinhuangdao 2012 world champion Josie Gabuco, 31, ng Puerto Princesa City sa women’s light flyweight , Jeju 2014 world silver winner Nesthy Petecio, 26, ng Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur, sa women’s bantamweight, at bagitong mula Koronadal City na si Ramel Macado sa men’s light fly.

Nakapagbuklsa naman ng $300 (₱16,000) dahil sa silver si 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympian Rogen Ladon at $100 (₱5,300) sina Irish Magno na may bronze sa women’s flyweight, at Ronald Chavez, Jr. na  “Very happy for our boxers. This is the fruit of all their sacrifice and dedication. Hopefuly it translates to victory in the Asian Games in August”, ani Vargas kahapon naka-bronze rion sa light welterweight.

Nito lang Hunyo 30-Hul. 6 umupak naman ang anim-katao pambansang koponang lalaki sa boksing ng bansa rin ng ng 1 gold, 1 silver at 2 bronze sa 1st Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament 2018 (dating Thailand King’s Cup) sa Huamark Indoor Stadium sa Bangkok, Thailand upang makapagsubi naman ng $9,375 (mahigit ₱.5-milyon)

“The candidates for the Asian Games are a mix of veterans and young guns. We will now evaluate their performance with our coaches, sports scientists and officials to decide who will go. Then we will give those chosen one more training camp before they taper off in time for Jakarta,” bigkas naman ni Picson. (Ramil Cruz)
